Obituary

Wilson S. Slaughter, 83, of Charleston passed away June 3, 2008 at home after a sudden illness.
Wilson retired from Smith Transfer having worked as a diesel mechanic, and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He loved golfing, fishing, and was a member of Cross Roads Community Church, Martin''s Branch. Wilson also loved spending his winters in Lake Monroe, Florida. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survived by: Loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte Slaughter at home; Sons, Freddie Slaughter and his wife Joyce of Matthews, N.C., and Randy Slaughter of Webster, Texas; Brothers, Austin, Larry, Eugene, Bill, and Max Slaugher; Sisters, Bettie Taylor, Joyce Rhodes, and Ann Carr; and eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be 3pm Friday, June 6 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastor Jerry Bonnett officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Navy Operational Support Center, Eleanor. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories Mausoleum, Sissonville. A gathering of friends and family will be 6-8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
