Wilma Ruth Mace, 73, of Charleston graduated into eternity on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at CAMC, Memorial Division surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1936, in Frametown and was a graduate of Gassaway High School. Wilma was currently a member of Canaan United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Harry Dale Mace; parents, Coy and Rosa Flint; four brothers, Bacil Friend, Eugene Flint, Kenneth Flint and Charles Flint; two sisters, Ann Wolfe and Kay Dennison; and one great-grandson, Zechariah Mace.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Harry Lee Mace; daughters, Brenda Van Bibber (Glen) of Scott Depot, Debbie Bailey (Greg) of Sissonville; grandchildren, Julie Jarrett (Casey), Stacy Bloss (Joel) Daniel Bailey (Jamie), Ryan Bailey, Kalyn Guilloux (Jean), Marisa Mace and Stacy Frederick (Jason); five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Friend (Odbert), and Maxine Matthey (Charlie): and extended family, Kathy Reynolds; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Wilma was a devout Christian who spent a lifetime serving her church family. She was an active member of Greenlee United Methodist Church for 48 years, where she served in many offices and ministries. During this time, she served as the Youth Director for the West Side Parish of the United Methodist Church, where she positively influenced the lives of many young people. Wilma retired from Kanawha County Schools as a secretary and enjoyed working with the staff and students in her schools.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Pocatalico, with the Rev. Paul Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Goff-McClanahan Cemetery, Kelly's Creek.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 6, at the funeral home and also one hour prior to service the day of the funeral.
