William Henderson Truman, 81 of Sissonville, WV passed away February 14, 2011 with his wife of 50 years by his side.
Bill was born October 19, 1929 in Charleston, WV, the son of James and Nellie Truman.
Bill was preceded in death by his son Scott Henderson Truman, brother James Edward Truman, sisters Prenticetine Jane Combs and Nancy Rowena Truman.
Bill retired as a Captain with the Charleston Fire Department after 29 years of service. He worked part time as a barber and served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, nature, hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife Lillie Ann Young Truman, daughter Joyce Ann Truman Lanham and her husband Bob of Sissonville, special friend and nephew Kenny Harper of Sissonville and extended family and wonderful friends. He will be sadly missed by the many that knew and loved him. He was the "last of the good guys."
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday February 17, 2011 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Randy Camp officiating. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Sissonville with military honors provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
A gathering of family and friends will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
