William Edward McNeely, 88, of Charleston, formerly of Chapmanville went home to be with his Heavenly Father, his wife, and a host of family and friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2011.
He was born in Chapmanville, a son of William and Ellen McNeely and was retired from Cummins Diesel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Baldwin McNeely and brothers, Millard, Norman and Kennith McNeely. He was a proud Navy WWII Veteran, and was on the USS Ordronaux. He was there when the Peace Treaty was signed with Japan at Tokyo Bay, and was at Pearl Harbor. William was a faithful member of Union Valley Gospel Tabarnacle and loved his church family with all his heart. He was a beloved Elder of the Church and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his brother, Virlen McNeely and his wife, Elsie, of Chapmanville and a sister, Irene Strickland of Norfolk, VA, and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be 2pm Sunday, January 30 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Reverend Roy Moles and Pastor Robert Legg officiating. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at noon Sunday.
