William F. "Fred" Garnes, 92, of Cottageville, WV, passed away on October 25, 2022. Born on June 9, 1930 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Oren and Hettie Bumgardner Garnes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Fernando Garnes, James Garnes and Julian Carol Garnes. Fred attended the Bonham Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School, and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #4768. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, and keeping busy fixing things in his workshop. Fred is survived by his daughter, Donna J. Saunders; grandsons, William Watts, Nakoma Watts, David Watts and Zachary Watts; 3 great-grandsons, Zyren, Fallyon, and Alaric, and siblings, Margaret Garnes Facemeyer and Larry Garnes. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2022 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville, with Pastor Greg Moles, officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M., prior to services. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, InaLee Garnes, at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
