IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Lionel
Currey Lll
January 18, 1953 – April 18, 2025
William Currey, a devoted father, beloved grandfather, and compassionate nurse, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. He was a man who lived his life with quiet strength, deep empathy, and an unwavering dedication to the well-being of others.
Born in Charleston WV to William Lionel Currey Jr and Wynonna Regenia Powell on January 18th ,1953. He graduated from Sissonville Highschool and went on to get his Bachelors degree from WVU in Morgantown. He was a nurse at Saint Joseph East, Saint Francis Hospital, and at Rreston Surgery Center. He was a member of the Lions Club, and Pi Kappa Alpha historical society and foundation.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Currey and Hannah Rose Currey, three grandsons Colton Tyler Craig, Bennett Wayne Russell and Chandler William Currey.
William's greatest joy in life was his family. He was the proud and loving father of two daughters, whose lives he helped shape not only with tenderness and support, but with his inspiring example. As a registered nurse, Bill embodied the spirit of caregiving—not just in his profession, but in the way he lived each day. His passion for helping others left such a lasting impression on his daughters that they chose to follow in his footsteps, carrying on his commitment to healing and compassion through their own nursing careers.
To his three grandsons, William was more than a grandfather—he was a guiding light, a storyteller, a source of comfort, and a quiet hero. His love for them knew no bounds, and he poured his heart into every moment spent with them, teaching them the importance of kindness, integrity, and family.
William's life touched countless others—patients, colleagues, and friends—through his decades of work in nursing. But it was in the hearts of those closest to him that his impact was most deeply felt. He will be remembered for his gentle wisdom, his steady presence, and the boundless love he gave so freely.
Though he may be gone from this world, the legacy William Currey leaves behind is one of love, inspiration, and the enduring power of compassion. His memory will live on in the hands of his daughters as they care for others, in the laughter of his grandsons, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished
