Wanda Lee Layne, 73, of Sissonville went to be with the Lord January 2, 2008 in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Wanda was a devoted and loving mother, friend, and had a love for everyone. She retired from JCPenney, and was a member of Second Creek Community Church.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, "Ab" and Mildred Canter; Brothers, Forrest "Frosty" Canter; Warren "Butch" Miller, and Gene Canter; Husband, Peter S. Layne; Sisters-in-law, Denise Layne and Wilma Halstead.
Survived by: Children, Dianna Kennedy and her companion George Roach both of St. Albans, Kathy Watson of Cross Lanes, and Peter Layne of Sissonville; Sons-in-law, David Glowatzke of Sissonville, and Bob Watson of Dunbar; Grandchildren, Amanda Kennedy, Kristin Watson, and Scott and Mark Kennedy; Great Grandchildren, Cheyenne and Noah Harrison, and Drew, Corey and Michael Kennedy; Sisters-in-law, Violet Canter, Joan Blankenship, Jeannie Bennett, and Sheri Miller; Brothers-in-law, Johnny and Hershel Layne; and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The Funeral Service will be 2pm Saturday, January 5 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Rev. David Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Second Creek. Friends may call 6-9pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
