Tressie P. Edens, 90, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 28, 2015.

Tressie faithfully attended church until she was unable to do so. Her family remembers her most for the times she spent caring for and nurturing her grandchildren. She taught them to enjoy the simple things in life by having picnics under the apple tree, making paper-dolls with the girls and most of all playing dominos to learn math. She provided so many a hot breakfasts to the boys as they came out of the woods from hunting and bailing many loads of hay.

Tressie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert H. Edens; sons, Floyd E., Robert M., and Milton H. Edens; daughters, Arlene B. Serls and Linda L. Edens; and an un-named baby boy.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Leon Edens (Anita), Phyllis Schleigh (Gary), Elberta Higdon (Ray), Patsy Serles, Fred Edens (Rita) and Louise Tolliver (Donald); grandchildren, Roy Serles, Kathy Eads (Steve), Kimberly Schleigh, Vanessa Willett (Tommy), Sonny Edens, Adeline Serls, Traci Perdue (Harry), Dayton Serls, Bill Serles (Lily), Jessica Burdette (Shawn), Evelyn Nary (Luke) and Lil'' Freddie Edens; great-grandchildren, Billy, Santana, Danielle, Hollie, Zoe, Gunner, Brooke, Mason, Chloe, Blake and Nicholas; and several other great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11am Saturday, October 3 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastor Melvin Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Edens Family Cemetery, Sissonville.

A gathering of family and friends will be 5-8pm Friday, October 2 at the funeral home.
