Thomas Richard Wilkinson, of Sissonville died peacefully on July 9, 2008 at the age of 94. He was born on May 27, 1914, the son of the late Estes Sherman Wilkinson and Mary Susan Tate Wilkinson. Tom is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 68 years Virginia Whittington Wilkinson; two sons and their wives Dr. Ronald L and Judith S Wilkinson of Morgantown WV and Dr. Thomas F and Linda S Wilkinson of Barboursville WV. Also surviving are their grandchildren Lynn Wilkinson Connery of Shelburne VT, Michael Patrick Wilkinson of Nags Head, NC, Molly Wilkinson Johnson of Huntsville AL and Amy Wilkinson Marah of Los Angeles CA, and their great-grandchildren Madelene Judith Connery and Theodore Richard Connery. Mrs. Lora Older of Dunbar WV is his only surviving sibling. Tom was a Navy veteran of WW II. He was employed by Union Carbide Corporation for 28 years until his retirement in 1974. Tom was a man of many talents, being a master carpenter, watchmaker, clockmaker, plumber, electrician, mechanic electronics technition, and gardner. He was well recognized and appreciated by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. Tom contributed to his family, community and church with compassion and integrity throughout his life. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 168 AF & AM of South Charleston for over 50 years, an honorary 33 Scottish Rite Freemason and the Beni Kedem Shrine. He was also a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows for over 50 years . The family wishes to thank Kanawha Hospice Care and the physicians and staff of St. Francis Hospital for their gentle, kind and loving care during Tom''s final days. The church community from Aldersgate United Methodist Church has remained loyal, caring and compassionate during the past several years with his declining health. The family is eternally grateful to all the members of the congeration. Visitation with the Wilkinson family will be Saturday July 12, 2008 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm. The the funeral service service will begin at 12:00 with Dr. Don Clark officiating. Long and Fisher Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
