Tamara N. Wright (Tammy), 54, of Pocatalico, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, due to complications from pneumonia. Tammy was born Sept. 9, 1959 in Charleston, WV. She was the daughter of the late Phillip M. and Mary L. Wright.

Tammy had a kind and caring spirit, but at the same time was athletic and competitive, having lettered in basketball, volleyball, softball, and track while at Sissonville High School. Her achievements didn't stop at athletics. She excelled in academics, and in particular math and science, and participated in both the Thespian Club, and the Chorus. Tammy was Salutatorian of the Sissonville High School class of 1977. Her scholarly and athletic abilities carried her through four years at West Virginia Tech where she earned a BS degree in Chemistry in 1981.

Tammy spent the next 20 plus years working for CTE Labs and later SGS as the Mass Spec and Organics Lab Leader. She also spent several years providing loving and selfless care to her mother and later her father.

Tammy will be missed by her brother Michael Wright (Linda) of Cross Lanes, sister Kim Wright of Pocatalico, brother Alan Wright (Patricia) of Fraziers Bottom, nieces Francesca Wright (Mace), Melanie Wright (Hintz), nephews Michael Wright Jr., and Eddie Slusher. Grandnieces and nephews Braelynn Mace, Cannon Hintz, Maggie and Katelynn Williamson, and Morgan Beane. Special friends Maralee and Bob Warren. Also he four legged friends Sugar and Lucy.

A memorial of Tammy's life will be held Saturday Feb. 15, 2014 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Pocatalico, WV. Visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 and Memorial from 2:00 - 3:00. In lieuof flowers a donation may be made to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Society.
