Bishop Ira "Speedy" Miller, 66, of Lawrenceburg, Ky., passed away Tuesday evening, May 26, 2009, in Bluegrass Community Hospital, Versailles, Ky. Bishop Miller was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Eleanor and was a son of the late Noble F. Sr. and Virena Lowe Miller.
Speedy was a bishop of the Church of God, pastor of churches and interim pastor. He was a 45 year employee of Ashland Oil and retired as a terminal operator in Lexington, Ky.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Charlotte Wolfingbarger Miller; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Tommy Sullivan of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Kelly and Anthony Arbaugh of Albany, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Cyndi Tobias, Scarlett Sullivan, Megan Boudinot, Breanna Boudinot, Nathan Boudinot, Alaina Arbaugh and Matthew Arbaugh; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Noble Jr. and Debbie Miller of South Carolina, Thomas and Janet Miller of Texas and David and Mary Rita Miller of Dunbar; and one sister, Marilyn Tate of Cross Lanes.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Catlettsburg Church of God, Catlettsburg, Ky., with Brother Robert Hawkins, Brother Chris Morris, Brother Rodney Murphy and Bishop Steve Mays officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Sissonville Memorial Gardens, Sissonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Globe Funeral Chapel, Olive Hill, Ky., is in charge of all the arrangements.
