Russell E. Edens, 88, of Sissonville died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in his sleep at home. Russell was born Feb. 4, 1921. He was a Christian and a longtime member of Legg Fork Community Church. He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. He worked for coal mines and was a truck driver for Wright Bachman Lumber Company. He loved the Lord, his family and his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clydia Burdette Edens; his wife, Cledith Martin Edens; his son, Roger L. Edens; brothers, Lloyd and Stanley Edens; and sisters, Doris Edens Lovejoy, Nancy Edens Otomyer and Hetti Edens Bennett.
Surviving are his sons, Kenneth Edens of South Charleston and Keith Edens and his wife, Loretta Edens, of Sissonville; daughter-in-law, Linda Jones Edens of Charleston; three grandchildren, Scott Edens and his wife, Michelle, of Charleston, Sherri Edens of Charleston and Cora Hackney of Sissonville; five grandchildren, Jessica Jordan, Zachary Edens, Ashley Edens, Claudia Hackney and Isaac Hackney; one great-grandson, Mason Jordon; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, under the direction of the Rev. Ernest Cox. Burial will be in Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
