IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Keith
Myers
September 26, 1947 – May 20, 2024
On February 14, our dad, Ronald K Myers, started on a new journey. A journey with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. That journey ended yesterday, May 20, 2024. He took one final breath here and in the next moment, was ushered into the arms of Jesus.
Three years ago, our mother Carol Myers went home to be with the Lord after her own battle with cancer.
We learned several things when she passed. While watching a loved one die is a pain like no other, planning a funeral heaps more grief and pain on an already emotional time. While it may seem odd to most, we have decided to not have a funeral. Instead, we would ask our family and friends for the following:
First, please say a prayer for our family. We are taking this time to be together as a family, loving and supporting one another while we quietly celebrate dad's life.
Second, and most important, we would ask the following of each and every one of you. The time you would have taken out of your day to come hug our necks and give sweet words, and/or the money you would have spent to buy flowers (which I promise I would have unintentionally killed), go spend it with your family.
Put your phone away, turn off the iPad and tv and celebrate my dad's life by spending time with your family. If your parents are here, go sit on the porch and talk. I was able to do that with dad before he passed and it was a wonderful time. We just sat on the porch swing and talked about nothing and everything.
Take them some cookies or a cake or some sweet tea.
Go for a bike ride or a hike with your kids. Play a board game or cards.
Take your spouse out for dinner.
Whatever it is your family enjoys, do it. Do it in honor of my dad and know that we love and appreciate you all.
