Ronald Gene Myers II, of Sissonville, went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3rd, at 5:20PM after a hard-fought battle with a stroke and cancer.
Born on June 2, 1958 in Logan County to Ronald and Dinah Myers. Ron became involved in the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the Eagle Scout rank, a Vigil Honor Member, A Silver Beaver recipient and then worked to pass his knowledge and experiences to future scouts by working his way to Scout Master and mentor.
Ron enlisted for military service as soon as he was able and was a twenty-year veteran for the USMC and served his country honorably. He was also an avid HAM radio operator.
Ron retired from Verizon after 32 years of service on Jan 9, 2010. Ron attended Kanawha Two Mile Bible Church and was actively involved in the bus route, choir, and ran the sound system.
Ron was a loving husband and father to five children, all of whom he dearly loved and was devoted to until he drew his last breath.
Ron is survived by his wife, Kelli, his children, Brittany and Patrick, his daughter-in-law Celeste, his grandchildren, Patrick James and Meghan Elizabeth, and his father, Ronald G. Myers.
He has entrusted the care of his family to his extended family and friends, to meet their needs in his absence until they join him in his Heavenly home. Ron always wished for his children and grandchildren to receive the best education possible. With that in mind, the family recognizes that it would be Ron's wish that in lieu of flowers, should you so feel the need, to honor Ron by donating to his grandchild's education fund established at Wesbanco Bank. Donation box also available at the church. His surviving family appreciates all signs of sympathy in whatever form you feel led to do so.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 9 at Maranatha Baptist Church, Sissonville with Pastor David VanHorn officiating. Burial will follow at the Britton Cemetery Britton Ridge Road, Sissonville.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.
