Romie R. Edens, 83, of Charleston passed away January 28, 2008 at home after a long illness.
Romie worked on the lakes for ore freighters after serving in the Navy. He then married Jenny and started working for the Kanawha County Board of Education. He loved his farm, and raising cattle. Romie was a WWII Navy Veteran having received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Star.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years and best friend, Jenny.
Survived by: Sons, Carl Lee Edens, Romie Edens Jr. and his wife Kathy, and John William Edens all of Charleston; and Brother, Lee Edens Jr. of Charleston.
The Funeral Service will be 2pm Thursday, January 31 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Military Graveside rites provided by the WV Army National Guard Honor Guard, South Charleston. Friends may call 7-9pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
