Richard Dale Wilson, Sr., 84, of Sissonville passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Daybrook, WV to the late Shannon and Myrtle Wilson. Richard served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1444 and Eureka Masonic Lodge #40. Richard was an avid outdoorsman whom loved fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and attending bluegrass festivals.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Peg Jones and Betty Pauley; brothers, Bill Wilson, Jim Wilson, Ben Wilson, and Ray Wilson.

Richard will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Odetta "Valjean" Wilson; children, Susan Weekley (Tracy) and Richard D. Wilson, Jr. (Pam); sisters, Sybil Chisler, Bonnie Morgan, and Dell Shadgett; grandchildren, Joey (Nicole), Morgan, Ashlee, Justin (Kathleen), Megan (Scott), Kaitlyn (Matthew), and Ally (Michael); great grandchildren, Jozey, Mason, Gabe, Penelope, Audrey, Levi, Sadie, and Harrison. Richard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family and friends dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation starting at noon. Burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
