Richard Miller, 77, of Charleston went home to be with his Lord Jesus on April 10, 2012, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born April 8, 1935, in Sissonville, where he was a longtime resident. Richard graduated from Sissonville High School in May 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country from July 1954 to 1959. After his service in the Air Force, he retired from Charleston Printing Company after 25 years of employment.
He is survived by his son, Roger Miller and his wife, Christi, of Sissonville; son, Randy Miller and his wife, Heather, of Sissonville; his daughter, Rita Thaxton and her husband, Abe Ghanim, of Charleston; grandchildren, Lindsay Cunningham of South Charleston, Travis Miller of Charleston, Jamison Miller of Charleston, Justin Miller of Huntington, Ind., Corey Thaxton of Charleston and Ashley Thaxton of Charleston; and great-grandchildren, Gillian Cunningham of South Charleston, Cambrie Coffman of Charleston and Caiden Thaxton of Charleston.
Richard's family would like to express a special thanks to Michael Neal for all the care and support he has given, and most of all for being a special friend to their dad.
A celebration of life service will be held at Long and Fisher Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13. Billy Joe Asbury will be officiating.
