Obituary

Richard (Jack) Rexford Asbury, 73, of St Albans, formerly of Harmony passed into the arms of the Lord on December 7, 2023 after a long illness at Charleston Area Medical Center.

He was born on November 2, 1950 in Sissonville, WV.  He graduated from Sissonville High School and left for the Army shortly after and dedicated three years of service to his country. Richard retired from the United States Postal Service as Postmaster after 30+ years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife Jean, Children Andrea (Eric) Lawson, Shawn (Ligia) Asbury, and Ashley Danielle (Steven) Asbury-Estep; Grandchildren Casey Lawson, Serenity Asbury, Marcus Asbury and Lilly Asbury.  Siblings Robert Asbury, Dorothy Harrison, Paul Asbury and Larry Asbury.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and Mother-in-Law, Norma (Granny) Wright.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Charley and Thelma Asbury; siblings Billy Joe Asbury, Phyllis Warfield, Donald Asbury, Aquilla Harrison and Danny Asbury.

Richard was the avid storyteller of the family. He dedicated his life to his family and friends. His generosity and compassion knew no limits.  He saw good in everyone and always made time for  those in need. In his memory, please help those that need a helping hand. That kindness could heal a wound only a good gesture can heal.

A celebration of life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Meadowood Park in Tornado, WV, on Saturday, May 25, 2024. All services were provided by Long & Fisher Funeral Home.
