Obituary

Ray Estil Sayre, 70, of Sissonville, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2013, at Hubbard Hospice House West, while his wife & two daughters held his hands.
He was born February 13, 1942, to the late Willie & Bessie Sayre. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beulah Thaxton.

Ray served in the US Army Reserves. He retired from Appalachian Power Company with 35 years of service. He was also a devoted church usher & Sunday School teacher with his wife for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, being the community handyman and spending time spoiling his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his legacy are his wife of 45 years, Becky Sayre; daughters, Tonya Sayre & Shawna (Mark) Hudson; grandchildren, Courtney & Conner Hudson; sisters, Bea Durham, Rachel (Bill) Landers, Brenda (Danny) Breeden; brothers, Russell Sayre & Raymond (Patti) Sayre.

A gathering of family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 28, at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, Sissonville. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 29 at the church, with Pastor Edison Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Tolley Cemetery, Sissonville Drive, Sissonville.
