Jesse "Ray" Cobb, 81, of Sissonville went to join his beloved wife of 62 years, Mariedith on May 7, 2008.
Ray was born in Charleston in 1926, and was one of nine children. He retired from DuPont, Belle plant in 1982 after 35 years service. He loved animals, and fox hunting was one of his favorite hobbies. He loved giving all of his family members nicknames, and making songs about them while playing his harmonica. Ray loved to tell stories, jokes, and he had a wonderful sense of humor.
Ray was preceded in death by: Parents, Zollie and Dovie Cobb; Brothers, Harvey, John, and Herbert; Sisters, Kathleen and Juanita.
Left to cherish Ray''s life: Children, Howard Ray Cobb and Linda, Roger "Dale" Cobb and Donna all of Sissonville, Janice Slusher and Gary of Nitro, Kathy Butcher and Scott of Sissonville, and Cindy Fullerton of Woodstock, Georgia; Brothers, Richard Cobb of Tyler Mountain, and Bob Cobb of Ohio; Sister, Geneva Blackshire of Tyler Mountain; Thirteen Grandchildren, Teresa Sheets, Tammy Reese, Billie Jo Miller, Tony Toler, Tracie Hyde, Kellie Ray, Jesse Cobb, Lori Taylor, Chelsea, Jacob, Zachary, Benjamin, and Samuel Fullerton; and fourteen great grandchildren.
A celebration of Ray''s life will be at 2pm Saturday, May 10 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Rev. Michael Good officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5-8pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
