Obituary

Paula Louise Craft, 59, of Kenna, entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2023 at Hubbard House Hospice, Charleston, following a brief, but valiant battle with cancer. She was born October 28, 1963 in Washington, D.C to the late Margarette Clottell (Clo) and Kenneth Irvine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Pamela J. Hackney (Rick) of Charleston, WV, and her dog of many years, Ella. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Monica Craft and Clayton Craft (Arin) of Kenna, WV; one very adored grandson, Maverick Craft of Kenna, WV; siblings Rev. Kenneth Irvine (Gail) of Ormond Beach, FL and Karen Hunt (Don) of Longwood, FL; lifelong friend and father of Clayton and Monica, Dale Craft (Susan) of Dunbar, WV; along with several nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Paula graduated from Sissonville High School in 1981 and continued her education in computer programming at Garnet Career Center in Charleston, WV. Paula has worked several jobs throughout her life. In her early career, she worked as a computer programmer and secretary at the WV Legislature. Later, she discovered a love for waitressing and bartending. She worked at Embassy Suites in Charleston and later Bob Evans in Ripley. In her free time, Paula loved spending time with her family and friends. She was especially smitten with her grandson, Maverick. She was a huge music fan, but her favorite act was always her son, Clay, playing guitar while her daughter, Monica, sang along. Paula loved the outdoors and could always be found outside in the summer either sunbathing or tending to her flower bed. She was also an avid reader and kept a collection of several hundred books. Her favorite author was Nora Roberts. Lastly, Paula was a devoted Christian and loved to serve the Lord. She would be the first to tell anybody how blessed she was and always felt comfort through prayer. The family wishes to thank the team at Hubbard House, as well as the staff at Hospice Care, and Mary at CAMC for their exceptional care and kindness during her stay.
