Orlie Elizabeth Burdette, 86, of Harpers Ferry, WV, formerly of Charleston, passed away on May 25, 2023 at the Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, WV. Born on April 14, 1937 in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late William Burdette and Flo Skeens. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Juanita Fields, Tressie Mae Elliot, Leo Anderson and Leonard Burdette. Orlie stepped in and took on the role of step-mother when her niece, Jo Ann's mother passed away in an auto accident. Orlie loved being outdoors. She enjoyed farming, gardening, growing vegetables and making wilted lettuce salads. She was an animal lover, especially cats. She is survived by her brother, Roy Burdette; nieces, Jo Ann Nicholson Patty Smith, nephews, Gary Burdette,Roy Burdette, Donald Burdette, David Burdette, and Jerry Burdette. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home in Sissonville. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories. A Celebration of Orlie's life will be held at Roosters after the service.
