Opal K. "Granny" Wines, 97, of Kenna died May 16, 2011, at the home of her granddaughter, Val (Steve) Carnell, with whom she had made her home for several years.
Born Sept. 13, 1913, in Sissonville, She was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Jarrett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wines; and siblings.
Granny is survived by two daughters, Gatha Baldwin of Ravenswood and Jessie Campbell of Smyrna, Tenn.; and one brother, Jack (Shirley) Jarrett of Valley Bend. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Thursday, May 19, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.
Graveside services will be held immediately thereafter in Coon Cemetery, with lay speaker Jay Carnell officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the angels of HospiceCare and, especially to Deanna Berry, R.N., and Heidi Graley, CNA, for their friendship and support during Granny's extended illness, and also to Jenny Carnell for her unwavering support, love and compassion toward Granny.
