Nora Gibson Boggess, 101, of Charleston died in her sleep March 29, 2007 at Marmet Nursing Center. A former long-time resident of Sissonville, Mrs. Boggess was the oldest living descendent of James Sisson for whom the town of Sissonville was named. She was preceded in death by her husband Lud H. Boggess, her parents Oscar L. Gibson and Ethel Sisson Gibson, and by eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Martha Robertson of Portsmouth, Virginia; a daughter, Janet Welch and son-in-law Edwin of Charleston; a son, Gary H. Boggess and daughter-in-law Annette of Trenton, Michigan; a granddaughter, Melissa Louwers and husband Sean of Macomb, Michigan, and two great granddaughters; and ten nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Saturday, March 31 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with her son-in-law Dr. Edwin Welch officiating. Burial will follow at John Beane Cemetery, Sissonville. Friends may call 7-9pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
Despite her advanced age, Mrs. Boggess possessed a clear mind and a remarkable memory until her death. A valiant lady, she will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the staff at Marmet Nursing Center for their kind and compassionate care.
