Obituary

Noble Ray Thaxton, 86, of Sissonville passed away June 5, 2016 at home with his girls by his side, after a long illness.

Ray was retired from the Air Force after 26 plus years service, and was employed as a civilian for 16 years with the WV Air Guard. He loved hunting and the outdoors.

Left to cherish his memory are loving wife of 57 years, Doris Myers Thaxton at home; daughters, Kimberly Jett (David) and Patricia Shafer (Clarence) all of Sissonville; grandson, James David Shafer of Sissonville; sister, Thelma Carpenter of Wolf Pen; and brothers, McKinley "Tootsie" Thaxton (Juanita) of Wolf Pen and Hansford Thaxton (Hazel) of Charleston.

Graveside service will be 11am Wednesday, June 8 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Pastor Buddy Mairs officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be 6-8pm Tuesday, June 7 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25387.
