It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Narketta D. Beckner, 72, of Sissonville, WV. Narketta was born on December 19, 1953, in Charleston, WV, and passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026. She lived most of her adult life in Sissonville, where she was a graduate of Sissonville High School.
Narketta worked for several local businesses throughout her career, including Bowen Pharmacy and Fisher’s Restaurant in Sissonville. She also worked for a short time at Kanawha Banking and Truist in Charleston. She was a long-time and devoted member of Pocatalico Community Church.
In her younger years, Narketta shared her love of music by singing and playing the piano alongside her mother, Norma Moffatt (Tignor), and her aunt, Lottie Smith (Tignor), as the Tignor Sisters. Music remained an important part of her life. In recent years, however, several health issues prevented her from singing and traveling as she once enjoyed.
Narketta was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Beckner; her parents, Norma and Clay Moffatt of Sissonville; her mother- and father-in-law, Virginia and Dick Beckner of Sissonville; and her step grandchild, Jacob.
She is survived by her son, Wade Hampton of Sissonville; her sister, Joyce McFarland (Orville) of Sissonville; her nephew, Dana McFarland of Sissonville; and her stepchildren, JD Beckner (Melissa) of Sissonville and their children, Chase, Sysia, Johnathon, SJ, and Emily; Terry Beckner (Donna) of North Carolina and their son, Zachary; and Shelia Little (Chris) of Tennessee and their children, Josh and Jared.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastors Kenneth Truman, David Horn, and Buddy Mairs officiating ,visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Narketta’s memory to Pocatalico Community Church.
