Mary Lola Underwood Carroll, 73, of Sissonville passed away March 28, 2010 in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness.
Mary taught kindergarten for 33 years at Sissonville Elementary. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital and was awarded the Volunteer of the year award in 2008. She served as the weekend manager of the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston and coordinated the Breakfast with Santa Claus. She was a past president of the Women''s Club and also past president of the BPOE Does and Eastern Star Tiskelwah chapter 44. She also volunteered for the BPOE chapter 202 Handicap Children''s Camp. Mary attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Sissonville.
Preceded in death by her father, Paul Underwood.
Left to cherish her memory are loving husband of almost 50 years, Edward M. Carroll at home; mother, Lola Price Underwood of Sissonville; children, Constance Ann Johnson and her husband, Percy, and Edward M. Carroll II all of Sissonville; grandchildren, Jesssica Canfield of Elkins and Jennifer Canfield of Sissonville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Thursday, April 1 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastors Brad and Stephanie Bennett officiating. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
