Madelyn Virginia Young Layne, 85, of Charleston went to sleep in the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2014 waiting on the Resurrection.

Revelations 2:10
Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.

Born April 3, 1929 in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Gladia Fields.

Madelyn was an active member of the Seven Day Advent Church, and previous member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Madelyn was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital. She enjoyed making silk flower arrangements for her church and baking wedding cakes. Madelyn was the sweetest lady, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother that anyone could know.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Floyd Clevious Young; a daughter, Cathy Lynn Young; two brothers, Robert and Leo Fields; and a sister, Geraldine Wilkes.

Madelyn is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jim "Bronco" Layne of Charleston, WV; four sons, Danny Allen Young (Doris Jean) of Florence, SC, Terry Michael Young (Rebecca Kay) of Charleston, WV, Jeffrey Floyd Young of Charleston, WV, Timothy Scott (Vicki) of Sissonville, WV; a step-son, Jeffrey Alan Layne and his significant other Stacy Shamblin of Sissonville, WV; a step-daughter, Cheryl Renee Lewis (Michael) of Sissonville, WV; a special nephew, Jerry Thomas; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and her dog Precious.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm at Long and Fisher Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Stewart Pepper officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville.
