Lowell Edmond Payne, 85, formerly of Long Branch, West Virginia, passed away on September
5, 2023.

Lowell was born in Long Branch, West Virginia, on March 14, 1938. Preceding him in death
were his parents, Okey and Josie Payne; his wife of 52 years, Janet Payne; a sister, Melissa
(Wallace) Gum; and brothers Ulysses (Flora) Payne, John (Euline) Payne, Franklin (Mildred)
Payne, and Waymon Payne.

He was proud to be a graduate of Pax High School. Afterwards, he attended Glenville State
College and graduated from West Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering.

He was self-employed at the time of his retirement. He was a kind, gentle soul who was always
willing to help where he could. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a big
sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Pax Reunions, working his small farm, watching the wild
life that wandered through, and always enjoyed a good meal shared with friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his family members: a sister, Mary Jo (Glenn) Morris; sister-in-law,
Jean Payne; nieces and nephews, Buren (Rachel) Payne, Pat (Patti) Payne, Nancy (David)
Rapp, Sandra (David) Fambrough, Shelby Morris; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as
well as many friends.

Service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, 6837 Sissonville Drive, Sissonville with Reverend Delbert Walker officiating.  Entombment will follow at Floral Hills
Garden of Memories Mausoleum, Sissonville, West Virginia.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Charleston, West Virginia 25320 in lieu of flowers.
