Louie Johnson, 76, of Charleston passed away June 6, 2009 at home after a short illness.
Louie served active duty with the Patrol Squadron 46 from November 10, 1950 to September 22, 1953 and was honorably discharged from the US Navy. He was self employed for many years in the Construction Business and was working for Tug Walker Excavations when he retired. Louie had a passion for fishing and repairing anything.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Patty; parents, Frank and Elsie Johnson; brother, Marion Johnson; and sisters, Mary Fussel, and Ruth Burrows.
Survived by a son, Louie "Butch" Johnson Jr., and his wife, Renee, of Charleston; daughter, Robin Galinsky and her husband, Marty, of Charleston; brothers, James Johnson of Florida, and Charles Johnson of Hernshaw; sisters, Lucille Burrows, and Sherry Evans both of Florida; grandchildren, Nathan and Shaina Galinsky, Chrissy Shamblin and her husband, Matt, and SPC David Johnson; companion and dear friend of 8 years, Irene Blake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, June 10 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Reverend Matt Shamblin officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
