Loretta Mae Chapman's Obituary
Loretta Mae Chapman, 73, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2008, after a long illness at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home. Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, her gentle soul was escorted to heaven on the wings of angels.
She was retired from Kanawha County Schools, a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her main focus in life was the happiness of her family. Her unselfish nature was to sacrifice everything for others. She loved everyone and was loved by many. She enjoyed bluegrass music and harmonizing with her sons.
She was preceded in death by her husband Morris K. Chapman, her mother Ruby Roberts, her father Virgil Harrison and her brother Perry Harrison.
She is survived by her eight children, Morris Kyle Chapman, Jr. and wife Carol of Elkhart, IN, Gary Wayne Chapman of Sissonville, Mark Anthony Chapman and companion Regina Haynes of Ripley, Philip Kent Chapman and wife Renee of Hurricane, Kenneth Layne Chapman and wife Sandra of Sissonville, Janice Loraine Amspoker and husband Charley of Charleston, Keith Allen Chapman and wife Jill of Sissonville, and Barbara Marie Meade and husband Eddie of Sissonville; sister Donna Jean Campbell of Springfield, OH; 12 grandchildren: Tara Leigh Buckner, Gary Wayne Chapman, Jr., Candice Hess, Eric Chapman, Josh Chapman, Toni Marie Phillips, Mason Wines, Kelsey Chapman, Julian Chapman, Danny Sloan, Mae Lee Farr and Casey Harper; six great-grandchildren; close personal friends, Bud and Peg Hyatt and beloved dog, Patches.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, June 2, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Cedar Ridge Activities Group, 302 Cedar Ridge Road, Sissonville, WV 25320.
