Linda Mae Shamblin, 72 of Sissonville died March 1, 2010 at her home after a long illness.
She was born April 6, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Collett and Ruth Boggess of Sissonville. Linda worked for over 20 years as a secretary at Sissonville High School when she retired in 1997. Linda was a member of Fisher''s Chapel United Methodist Church. Her love for life was demonstrated to everyone who knew her.
She was truly a witness and a blessing to those who knew her and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Linda was a 1955 graduate of Sissonville High School and is survived by her high school sweetheart, Bobby Shamblin. They were married for 53 years and celebrated many good times. Linda is also survived by her son Scott Shamblin and wife Cindy of Sissonville and grandsons Tyler and Trevor Shamblin who were "the apples of her eye". Brothers Paul Boggess and his wife Judy of Atworth, GA, and Ronnie Boggess and wife Libby of Sissonville. She was also survived by a special Sister -in- Law, Patsy Sisson, and one aunt Janet Hamon. Linda is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who touched her life immensely.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers throughout the past three and half years. You have kept her out of the valleys and pulled her to the mountain top with prayers, cards and visitation. Your generosity is truly appreciated. We would also like to thank Hospice Care and the Kanawha Valley Senior Service Lighthouse program who assisted in her time of need.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Saturday, March 6 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Pastor Al Mendez and Pastor David Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 9pm Friday at the funeral home.
