Lilly Violet Carpenter, 87, of Charleston passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice House.

Born in Jackson County, Violet was the daughter of the late Nelson and Martha Summers. Violet retired from St. Francis Hospital after 28years of being a nursing assistant.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Carpenter; sister, Bernice Buzzard; brother, Sinnette Summers; grandsons, "Little Ronnie" Walls and Andrew Siders.

Left to cherish Violet''s memory is her children, Margaret "Helen" Tate (Frank), Brenda Clinger (Gary), Johnny "Steve" Walls (Taletha), Karen Jeffries (Earl), Ronnie Walls (Lori), and Gerald "Jerry" Walls (Cheryl Fox); step-children, Brenda Kennedy, Debbie Carpenter, Sherrie Wise (Rodney), Gary Carpenter, and Wade Carpenter; brothers, Roy Summers (Garnet) and Dale Summers (Carolyn); 23 grandchildren, 50 great children, and five great great grandchildren; and a family friend, Mary Hardy.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm on Sunday, November, 2017 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2pm. Pastor Clifford "Cliff" Thaxton officiating.

Entombment will be private.
