Lewis "Gene" Burdette, 86, of Sissonville passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at CAMC Memorial surrounded by his loving family.

Gene retired from Borden Valley Bell with 44 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 175 Union for 38 years and spent six years as production supervisor for Borden Dairy. Gene was a member of Blue Lodge 168 of South Charleston, 32 Degree Mason,  Scottish Rites, and a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine. He served two years in the United States Army spending 18 months in Korea with the 378 ^th Engineer Combat Battalion, leaving the service as Sergeant First Class. He was president of Chemical Valley Racking Horse Association. Gene enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, fishing and caring for his horses.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Burdette; parents, Cleo and Eliza Burdette; sisters, Maxine Given, Gwendolia Wines, and Colleen Powers; brothers, Cleo Burdette, Jr., Handley Burdette, and James Burdette.

Gene will be missed by his children, Sandra Tyree (Allen "Bo"), Michael E. Burdette (Deedee), and Roger A. Burdette (Anne); grandchildren, Shane, Roger N. and Andrew Burdette; sister, Wilma Smith (Bill); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be at 11am on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Al Mendez officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Grandview Cemetery in Dunbar, WV.
