Obituary

Kermit Roosevelt Monk, 95, of Hurricane passed away peacefully on Monday, August 03, 2015 at Teays Valley CAMC surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 18, 1920 in Sissonville, he was the son of the late Evertte James Monk and Willa Jackson Monk.

Kermit served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He continued his life as a business man with North Charleston Lumber and Home Builder with Monk Brothers Builders and F&K Monk builders.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Friedel Margaretha Monk. His brothers, Arnold, Basil, Vernon and sisters Emma Hall and Edith Pickens.

Kermit will be missed by his children, Gary Monk and his wife, Camille; Jimmy Monk and his wife Donna; and Susan Moore; a brother, Dale E. Monk and his wife, Sally; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1pm on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation two hours prior to service.

Entombment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories with military honors.
