Katherine Birdie Young, 88, of Cross Lanes, formally a resident of 122 Brookhaven Dr. Nitro, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Valley Center Nursing Home in Charleston.

Born April 3, 1926 in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late John Douglas Fields and Alberta Rutledge Fields.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Alton L. Young, Jr.

Katherine is survived by her sons, Larry R. Young and Alan W. Young; daughter in law, Lisa Young; grandsons, Jason Young and Katelyn Young; and great grandchildren, Addison and Ava Young.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Camp officiating; visitation will be one hour prior.

Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
