Obituary

Our precious father and brother, John E. "Bugs" Baldwin passed away at CAMC Memorial on Thursday, April 23, 2015 after being diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia.

Bugs was the co-owner of Baldwin Used Auto Parts and Kanawha Valley Towing & Recovery Service with his brother Kenny. They have been in business since 1973 ; which was originally opened by our dad, Johnnie, who passed away July 13, 1986.

Our brother possessed a "Midas Touch" when it came to diagnosing & repairing automobiles. He could listen to a car idling or drive it and would come up with the solution.

Both brothers also worked at TagGalyean prior to their ownership of the Yard & Towing service. The past time enjoyed by both brothers was building and racing hot muscle cars.

No one possessed the driving technique Bugs and Kenny had with these cars and on weekends, they would be fine tuning their race cars or running them in competition. All of us, Mom and Dad included, loved hearing the power of these beautiful machines Bugs and Kenny built along with our dad who would always pitch in to help. All three of them were in their element.

Bugs loved going to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to look for parts they could not find here; this was generally a yearly trip. He was looking forward to a scheduled trip there with his son, Johnnie, this week.

His wife, Bev, unexpectedly passed away on September 25, 2013. Our mom, Evelyn left us on July 3, 2012; our dad, John left us on July 13, 1986. His nephew, Michael left us July 8, 2004. Bug''s grief for these losses took a toll on him and all the family. He never got over her death. His grief took a toll on him and all the family.

Our brother is with God and his acceptance of our Lord was witnessed by his brother and sister.

The loved ones he leaves to mourn him are his brother Kenny and wife Delores; sister, Mary Lou; sons, Johnnie and wife Shannon, David and wife Pamela; daughter, Amber; grandsons, Milano John; Tristan, Justin, Jon; granddaughters, Arielle, Raven, Alexandria, Elizabeth, and Christia Danielle; great grandchildren, Levi, Rayna, and Jacob.

He also leaves behind, Stevie, Cindy, Danielle, Brandon, Ariana, Addie; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The void he left is a great loss to each of us and we are struggling with the terrible grief of his leaving. It will be difficult for his family for a long time to come.

Funeral services will be at 2pm on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
