John Richard Lightner, "Poppy", born on December 5th, 1934 in Kanawha County, went home to be with The Lord on December 22nd, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lightner, his daughter, Virginia Diane Lightner and Great Granddaughter Angel Lynn Morris. He is survived by his two sons, Zack Lightner and Johnny Lightner, 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. John was essential in the founding of The Refuge Gospel Tabernacle of Dunbar, WV, where he was also a lifetime member. He loved to collect knives, watches, and money from across the globe. He also loved listening to bluegrass and gospel country records. He dedicated his life as a supporting pillar of the family ministry.
