John W. Johnson III, 54, of Sissonville was serenaded by angels up to the throne on August 18, 2008.
John was a graduate of Poca High School, and West Virginia State College. He retired from the State of West Virginia. He was a member of the Rose of Sharon Christian Fellowship, St. Albans, and was also an Associate Pastor. John was the biggest and most loyal fan of WVU Mountaineers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Johnson Jr. and Lillian Johnson Erskine.
Left to cherish his memory is loving wife of 20 years, Margaret E. Johnson at home; Sons, Mark A. Boggs of Sissonville, T.J. Wandling of Sissonville, John Johnson and his wife Michelle of St. Albans, and Sean Johnson who is stationed with the Army in Hawaii; Mother-in-law, Martha Skeen of Dunbar; Grandchildren, Taylor Boggs, and Landon Boggs both of Sissonville, and Isaiah Johnson. Paw Paw''s grandbabies were truly the love of his life. He taught them to pray and love Jesus; also survived by a very special nephew and best buddy Cody Charles Payne of Cross Lanes, and nephew Jarred Payne of Cross Lanes.
Special thanks to Cody, for loving your uncle John in such a special way, and always spending your time with him. Also special thanks to NSICU at CAMC General, Hubbard Hospice House, and all their staff, Dr. Sean DiCristofaro, and his nurses Tina, and Teresa of Appalachian Family Medicine in Hurricane. Thank you for all the years of love and care you showed John. He loved you in spite of your misplaced loyalty to Marshall University.
The Funeral Service will be 11am Friday, August 22 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Dr. James R. Wright Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville with graveside rites by Pastor David Bragg. A gathering of friends and family will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
