IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Joseph
Coll
December 3, 1959 – February 12, 2026
John Joseph Coll, 66, of Fayetteville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born in 1959, John was a proud graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and went on to serve his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he pursued higher education, earning a degree in business and addiction psychology—fields that reflected both his determination and compassion for others.
John's life was a testament to strength and transformation. Celebrating over 30 years of sobriety, he dedicated much of his career to helping others find the same hope and healing. He worked as a counselor at the Beckley jail, where his empathy, discipline, and commitment left a lasting impact on many lives.
John had a passion for fitness and weight lifting, believing strongly in self-discipline and perseverance. He was also a skilled woodworker who took pride in creating things with his hands. Deeply principled, John was an avid supporter of the Second Amendment and firmly believed in personal responsibility and individual freedoms.
In addition to his counseling work, John was deeply involved in the family business, proudly driving for M&R Flag Car. He was known for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Clare and Joseph Coll; his sister, Elaine; and his brother, Frank. He is survived by his sisters Mary (Randy) and Jane (Nancy), and his brother Bill, as well as his dear friend Chip (Gerri). He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched through his kindness, strength, and wisdom.
John's courage, compassion, and steadfast principles will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday February 21st 2026 at The Clubhouse, 2337 Washington Street West 25312 beginning at 1:00pm.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Recovery Point of West Virginia https://recoverypointwv.org/donate/ or a veterans organization of your choice.
