Freddie James (Jim) Wilson was born July 14, 1924 at Daybrook, WV, and he passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim served in WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater with the 161th Infantry 2nd Battalion. He was Honorably Discharged on February 1, 1946 with rank of Staff Sergeant Anti-Tank Gun Crewman. Jim was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Libration Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Victory Medal, and a Purple Heart from a battle injury sustained on Luzon in the Philippines.
Jim was employed and retired from Cabot Gas after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid WVU sports fan, especially his favorite player of all time, Jerry West.
Jim was preceded in death by his Daughter Sandra Kay Wilson, Parents, Shannon and Ivy Myrtle Moore Wilson, Sisters - Peg Jones, Betty Pauley, Brothers - Bill Wilson, and Ben Wilson, and his beloved mother and father-in-law Elmer and Beulah Haymond and Grand-daughter Erin Adkins Wilson.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Jean Haymond Wilson. Siblings: Sybil Chisler, Bonnie Morgan, Richard Wilson and his wife Jean, Dell Shadgett and her husband John, Ray Wilson, and Sister-In-law Carol Wilson. Children: Kenny Wilson and wife Brenda, Charlie Wilson and wife June, Becky Humphreys and husband Mike, and daughter-in-law Cindy Wilson. Grandchildren: Jaime Kupfner and Jacob Moss, Brian Wilson, Sarah Ruppenthal and husband Matthew, Amanda Garrido and husband John, Eric Wilson, Bradley Wilson, Sara McIntyre, and Amy Lilly and husband Brian. Great-Grandchildren: Bryce Kupfner, Megan Kupfner, Emily Kupfner, Josie Garrido, Isabella Garrido and Ayliana McIntyre. Jim is also survived by his Wife''s Brothers and Sisters who were like his own Brothers and Sisters, as well as many loving Nieces and Nephews.
The Funeral Service will be 1pm Wednesday, February 10 at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
