Janet Slater, 66, of Fairplain passed away June 17, 2009 at home after a short illness.
Janet was self employed as a pilot car driver, and her CB handle was "Battle Axe". She was preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Betty Johnson.
Survived by loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Slater at home; sons, Johnny Slater of Fairplain, Jackie Slater of Canton, OH, and Jeffrey Slater of Fairmont; sister, Jewell McClanahan of Sissonville; brother, Gene Johnson and his wife, Frances, of Lubeck; grandchildren, Melissa, Jason, and Jerry Slater, and Jennifer, Thomas, and Scott Michael Ivers; great-grandchildren, Michael and Nathan Yerger, Shayla Tanner, and Rose Erikson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1pm Saturday, June 20 at Floral Hills Garden of Memories Mausoleum Chapel, Sissonville with Pastor Dee Rhodes officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be 6-8pm Friday at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.
