James Eugene Smith, 73, of Charleston passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Duke Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Billy and Anna Mae Smith. Jim served our country in the United States Air force for 20 years. He was also a Vietnam Veteran. Later Jim retired from the US Postal Service after 22 years. He was an active member of the Patriots Pride MRC. Jim was a member of Humphrey's United Methodist Church in Sissonville.

Jim will be missed by his loving wife, Sue Smith; children, Dr. Anna Allen (Jay) and Todd Smith (Crystal); sister, Deloris Hutson (Bob); brothers, Ronnie Smith (June) and Michael Smith; grandchildren, Sierra Carney, Devin Carney, Elissa Smith, J.R. Smith, Alex Smith, Eli Smith, Sadie Smith; and a host of friends who knew him by the names: Smitty, Butch, and Pawpaw.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 11am on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor George Webb and Rev. Bill Guy officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories with military rites.
