James Oren Garnes 82, of Charleston passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Thomas Memorial Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late Oren and Hettie Garnes. Jim served our country in the United States Army. He was a retiree from Trojan Steel and an active member of Rich Fork Baptist Church. Jim was an avid famer who enjoyed horses, cows, and tractors.

Jim will be missed by his loving wife Carolyn Garnes; siblings, William Fredrick Gardens, Margaret Almedia Garnes Facemyer, and Larry Allen Garnes (Abby); many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Fernando Wood Garens and Juilan Carrol Garnes.

The family would like to thank: the Cancer Center, Mountaineer Health, and Aspire Health Urgent Support for their wonderful care and kindness they provided Jim and his family.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor David Vanhorn will be officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories with military rites.
