James R. "Jimmy" Hendricks, age 78 of Charleston, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 14, 2013.

Born on August 12, 1935 in Charleston, WV; a son to the late Noel C. Hendricks, Sr., and Elizabeth Drake Hendricks.

Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He retired from the Kanawha County Board of Education as a school bus driver and had done so for over 20 years. He was also a valued employee with Chemical Lemon and Diamond Department Store as their interior decorator. Jimmy also loved watching West Virginia Mountaineer football. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Hendricks; brothers, Lloyd and Noel Hendricks, Jr.

Those surviving include his son, James. R. "Robbie" Hendricks, Jr. (Anne) of Charleston; daughter, Geraldine "Gerri" Taylor (Don) of Hurricane; sisters, Frances Pearman (Jerry) of Freeport, FL, Carol Higginbotham of Charleston, and Barbara Hedrick (Bob) of Bancroft, WV; grandchildren, who referred to Jimmy as " Super Papaw", Amy, Laura, Kelly, Robbie, and Josh; also survived by 7 great grandchildren.

Services to celebrate the life of Jimmy will be conducted at 2pm on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Long and Fisher Funeral Home Chapel in Sissonville with Pastor Buddy Mairs officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Hendricks, Josh Hendricks, Jason Legg, Justin Tyler, Todd Carte, and Shawn McCown.

Visitation will be held from 11am-2pm on Sunday at Long and Fisher Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., West Charleston, WV 25387.
