Jackson Clark Friend, 84 of Charleston, WV, went to Heaven surrounded by his loving wife and family on April 21, 2024.

Jack graduated from WVU with a degree in Agriculture and Biology. He was the Assistant Director at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV for 7 years and then ran Camp Virgil Tate in Kanawha County, WV for 18 years. He was very involved with the FFA in high school where he won first place for hams in the FFA Ham, Bacon and Egg show for his smoked/sugar cured 10lb ham. He was selected as a delegate to the FFA National Convention and attended in Kansas City. He loved spending time with family and being outdoors. He will be loved and missed forever.

He was born April 2, 1940, in Ivydale, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Eva Friend; his sisters, Edna Bell Scott and Norma Marion; his brothers, Lloyd, Lee, Howard, and Hubert Friend. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Penny Friend; daughters, Brenda (John) Gossett, Joyce (David) Namey; son, Doug (Kim) Friend; grandchildren, Andrea Goff, Chris (Hannah) Namey, Anna (Matt) Sculley, Jonathan (Sarah) Gossett, and Rebekah (Matt) Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Micah and Daniel Goff, Alethia and Lauren Namey, Aubrey, Livi and David Sculley, Tommy, Ellie, and Tallulah Gossett, and Leah Rodriguez; and brother, Garrie Friend.

Memorial Services will be held at Long and Fisher in Sissonville, WV, Thursday April 25, 2024, at 1:00pm with Pastor Bill Bartlett officiating. Visitation will be 1-hour prior to service.
