Obituary

Ivan Oscar "Chick" Higginbotham, 90, of Sissonville (Grapevine) went to be with the Lord Friday evening, May 15, 2009 after a short illness at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Chick was born in 1918 in Jackson County, and was the son of the late Ivan Harrison Higginbotham and Avilee Higginbotham. Ivan retired from E.I. DuPont with 34 years service as a truck driver. He retired in June 1981. Chick lived most of his life in Kanawha County, and was a charter member of Goldtown Community Church. He gave his life over to the Lord on Father''s Day 1981.
Also preceded in death by: loving wife of 57 years, Velma I. Baldwin Higginbotham; mother-in-law and father-in-law, three half sisters, three half brothers, one brother-in-law, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and two great great grandchildren.
Survived by: son, Veldon O. Higginbotham, and his wife, Janice L.; daughter, Patricia G. Pennington and her husband, Edward all of Sissonville; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be 3pm Monday, May 18 at the Goldtown Community Church, Goldtown with Pastor Al Mendez and Aaron Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville.
