Irene Mae Ervin, 89, of Dunbar, WV, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2024 at the Dunbar
Center. She was born on September 8, 1934 to the late Oscar Cavender and Sadie Eden
Cavender of Charleston.

Irene loved to cook different recipes from cookbooks she had collected, shopping at
secondhand shops, and eating at local restaurants. She enjoyed spending time with friends,
family, and her grandchildren. Irene was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed cheering them
on as she watched them on TV. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her son Michael Ray Ervin of Dunbar,
brother Earl Cavender of Charleston, and sister Jessie Thurman of Georgia.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Karen Thomas of Ravenswood, sons
Robert Ervin of Dunbar, and John Ervin of Charleston, sister Lessie Mayberry of Charleston,
brother Arnold (Onie) Cavender of Ravenswood, grandchildren Brian Ervin of Charleston,
Chassidy Ervin of Charleston, Amanda Ervin of Charleston, Collin Struble of Stevensville
Michigan, and Cody Struble of Ravenswood, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Irene's wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later
date.
