Henry Columbus "Lummie" Miller, 87, of Sissonville, passed away on April 18, 2019, after a long illness. He was born March 24, 1932, at Millertown, to the late Alfred Douglas and Lucy Fisher Miller, and named for his grandfathers, Christopher Columbus (Ernestine) Fisher and Joseph Henry (Mary) Miller.
Lummie was a graduate of Sissonville High School, an Army veteran of the Korean War, attended West Virginia Tech and retired as a senior engineer from Union Carbide Corporation. He was a member of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church, and Charleston Elks Lodge 202 where he was a PER. He loved fishing, golf, and was a lifelong devoted fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, janie Whetherholt Miller, and his brother, Clifford "Corky" (Lucille) Miller. He is survived by sons Joseph (Lisa) and Thomas (Rhondell); grandchildren, S/Sgt. Bennett Miller, USAF, (Brittany), Samuel and Andrew Miller; great - grandchildren, Dakota and Henry Miller; brother, Clyde (Vada) Miller; nephews, nieces and many friends.
Funeral service will be held at Long & Fisher Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26, with visitation two hours prior, officiated by his pastor and friend, George Webb. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church, Sissonville.
