Helen Isabelle Moss of Charleston, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 1, 1926, in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Harty Dixon and Ader Shaffer Dixon. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Hayward Moss and Son, Gary Lee Moss. Brothers, Emza, Brady and Shady Dixon and Sister, Garnett Johnson.

Helen was a member of Central Grapevine (PAC) Primitive Advent Christian Church and attends Victory Primitive Advent Christian Church. The delight of her week was getting to go to church on Sunday mornings. She loved God, family and her friends. She taught Sunday School for thirty years, and was Church and Sunday School Secretary. She was also the pianist for Victory Church in her last years. She had no formal training, she just loved to play for her church and they loved hearing her play, as well as her testimony as to how good God had been to her throughout her life and the many prayers she prayed. Being saved at a tender young age, she devoted her life to God, her family, her church and her community. Immediately after graduation in 1944, she was asked to teach school in Roane County, where she taught grades 1-8 in a one room school house. She remained faithful, walking many miles with others to attend church regularly. After marrying her loving husband, Hayward, they both served God in every capacity, loving to sing, worship, witness and read God’s word. Godly, loving people.

Step-Granddaughter: Beth Hackworth and husband, Ken, of Ripley, WV. Great-Grandchildren: Ariane Williams and husband Luke of Ohio, Ty Newhouse of Michigan, Chase Newhouse of Charleston, WV, and Kailey and Jared Garten of Charleston, WV. Great-Great Granddaughter: Andromeda Williams of Ohio. Special Nieces: Penny Johnson of Sissonville, WV, Dusty Hurley and husband, David and special Great Grandnieces, Alex and Ella, all of Teays Valley, WV.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial afterward at Beane Cemetery in Sissonville.
